PFFF!

Le Petit Festival du Film Francophone

from March 8th to April 17th 2024

PFFF! What is it?

The CCFO is delighted to once again organize Le Petit Festival du Film Francophone (PFFF!); an annual festival where Francophones movies are screened, for all lovers of the 7th art, fans of the big screen, and popcorn enthusiasts!

This year, the festival will take place from March 8th to April 17th and will be held at the CCFO and the RCA. The movies are from Quebec, Acadia, and France, and almost all of them will be shown with English subtitles (except for the animated movie Katak, The Brave Beluga).

For this new edition of the PFFF, we offer you a selection of 5 Francophone movies, with advantageous rates for our members and for young people!

The times showed below are the doors opening times; the movies will start 30 minutes later.

The 2024 selection

La syndicaliste (2022) FR

Come celebrate International Women's Day with this portrait of a strong woman: it is the true story of the Irish national Maureen Kearney - head trade union representative-turned-whistleblower of a French multinational nuclear powerhouse. After denouncing top-secret deals that shook the sector, Kearney’s life is suddenly turned upside-down when she is violently assaulted in her own house. The investigation is carried out under pressure, but new elements create doubt in the minds of the investigators. At first a victim, Maureen becomes a suspect.
With: Isabelle Huppert and François-Xavier Demaison.

Screened in French with English subtitles on Friday, March 8th at 5:30 PM at the CCFO.
Followed by a discussion with members of Réseau-Femmes.

Katak, The Brave Beluga (2023) QB

Let's celebrate Francophonie Week with this family-friendly Francophone animated movie! While his peers have all turned white, Katak is still small and grey. To prove that he has grown up and to grant the last wish of his adored grandma, Katak departs on a perilous journey to the Great North.

Screened in French WITHOUT English subtitles on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:00 AM at the CCFO

A Difficult Year (2023) FR

Albert and Bruno are over-indebted, and live between petty schemes for one and a personal life adrift for the other. It is in the associative path, that they will come across young rebellious activists. More attracted by beer and free crisps than by their arguments, they will gradually integrate the movement without conviction, if not that of taking advantage of each action and each rebellion to profit from it.
With Pio Marmaï and Jonathan Cohen.

Screened in French with English subtitles on Friday, April 5th at 5:30 PM at the CCFO.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023) QB

Sasha is a young vampire with a serious problem: she's too sensitive to kill. When her exasperated parents cut off her blood supply, Sasha's life is in jeopardy. Luckily, she meets Paul, a lonely teenager with suicidal tendencies who is willing to give his life to save hers. But their friendly agreement soon becomes a nocturnal quest to fulfill Paul's last wishes before day breaks.
With Sarah Monpetit, Steve Laplante, and Sophie Cadieux.

Presented by RCA x CCFO - Screened in French with English subtitles on Monday, April 8th at 7:00 PM at the RCA - Age 15+.

Ru (2023) QB

But for Tinh, adapting has its share of difficulties. Already shy and reserved by nature, she must learn a new language and integrate into her new environment. Haunted by the hardships of the journey, Tinh will have to draw deep within herself the resilience necessary for her survival and her happiness.
