À l’occasion du Mois de la Francophonie et des Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), le CCFO vous propose d'assister à la projection gratuite de plusieurs films en mars.

Chaque année, plus de 400 enfants arrivent seul·e·s, à la frontière canadienne, pour demander le statut de réfugié·e. Craignant pour leur vies, Afshin, Alain et Patricia ont quitté leur pays sans leurs parents. Ils et elle ont tous les trois entamé un périple qui allait les mener, après plusieurs mois d’incertitude, au Canada: Afshin a quitté l’Iran en 1986, Alain le Burundi en 2009 et Patricia l’Ouganda en 2019. Mêlant prise de vues réelles et cinéma d’animation, Seuls porte l’empreinte de l’espoir: comment un·e enfant arrive-t-il ou elle à se reconstruire dans un nouveau pays, quand il ou elle a tout laissé derrière, même ses parents?

To mark the Month of La Francophonie and the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), the Centre culturel francophone de l’Okanagan (CCFO) invites you to attend several free film screenings in March.

Saturday, March 28 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. (doors open at 4:00 p.m.) at the CCFO, 702 Bernard Ave.

Every year, over 400 children arrive alone at the Canadian border to seek refugee status. Fearing for their lives, Afshin, Alain, and Patricia left their countries without their parents. Each of them embarked on a journey that, after several months of uncertainty, led them to Canada: Afshin left Iran in 1986, Alain left Burundi in 2009, and Patricia left Uganda in 2019. Blending live-action footage with animation, Seuls carries a message of hope: how does a child rebuild their life in a new country when they have left everything behind, even their parents?
